During World War II, the Japanese Armed Forces captured nearly 140,000 Allied military personnel (Australia, Canada, Great Britain, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, and the United States) in the Southeast Asia and Pacific areas. They were forced to engage in the hard labour of constructing railways, roads, airfields, etc. to be used by the Japanese Armed Forces in the occupied areas.(From https://www.forces-war-records.co.uk/prisoners-of-war-of-the-japanese-1939-1945)
On this page shows a video from youtube.com.It showed the harsh labours that the prisoners of ar were doing at Changi Prison during world war 2.As you can see they were very skinny and did not wear tops as some of them cant afford it or they thought it was too hot to work under the hot sun all day to wear tops.They also shower in the open as the shower rooms were only bused by the Japanese soldiers.
The P.O.W lived a really harsh life back t-hen . They were the people who resisted the Japanese and were caught.{british,etc}
<Sorry, I accidentally cut the recording in half>
(The recordings were published by Greg Miles and it was a recording of a ex-P.O.W named Fergus Anckorn.)
On the previous page showed a record of an Australian soldier captured by the J-apanese. It showed the name, date of capture, mother's name, camp (etc.)It even had a rank of the soldier.As you can see the soldier's rank was a CSM(Command S-ergeant Major)
(The picture was from the National Archive of Australia)
In conclusion, war is terrifying as it took millions of peoples life.We should all cherish the safe life we have and always remember that violence does no good against violence.
